The "Today Show" ran a story this morning on the continuing shark attacks off the Florida coast. Despite the fact that lifeguards have been told they don't have to go in and rescue anyone attacked by a shark, surfers aren't staying away.

In fact, one young guy said it's his "right" to surf where he wants to surf.

*sigh*

Remember the Florida election debacle? Well, I think the two are related. I think it's survival of the fittest. The 8-year-old boy who was attacked by a shark aside, I think nature's trying to teach us a lesson.

Read into that whatever you want. 'nuff said.

On another note, "Today" also ran a story on the Lake Havasu, Ariz., police department and 56 of its members who shaved their heads in support of a fellow officer battling testicular cancer.

The officer said keeping a positive attitude and being motivated to get better will get him better.

His colleagues say he's an inspiration.

Sometimes I need a story like that to restore my faith in human nature.
