Janis Ian wrote an interesting column about the falsehoods surrounding the music industry's attempt to close down sites like Napster. I'm glad she wrote it because her insight is a lot more important than mine. All I was going to say is that downloading music from Kazaa, which is what I use, is no different than when I was a kid and my friends and I would tape record and trade music. Now, it's just on a bigger scale. Janis Ian made some good points. For example, I probably wouldn't have bought Puddle of Mudd's CD if I hadn't downloaded a couple of songs from Kazaa. Fifteen bucks is a lot to spend for one song if you're not sure if you're going to like the rest of the CD. That reminds me. Remember 45s? Remember when all the music artists released singles? I wish they all did now.
Anyway, I was watching Gone With the Wind last night and switched to CNN during a part of the movie I don't really like. I was so confused by the whole Muhammed thing. The news people sounded pretty confused themselves. When I went to bed, they were saying the police said these two guys weren't the snipers, they were just wanted for questioning. I wake up this morning to find out police do think they're the snipers. I think I'll skip watching and reading news for the rest of the day. Maybe tomorrow the story will be complete and I won't be so confused.
In a sniper related note, some
radio listeners were offended when a syndicated radio show playing "Another One Bites the Dust" right after the news about the last sniper attack. One of the things that disturbs me about this is that the listerners didn't realize the radio station they listen to uses "canned" shows. How can you not know that? Some people are stupid, that's how. I think it's unfortunate that it happened, but c'mon people. Lighten up. It's a song.
