To clarify, I said I believed this wouldn't work. I didn't say it wasn't a good idea. Again, I think it won't work because Bush doesn't seem to care what other people think about war. What's the difference between our weapons of mass destruction and everyone else's weapons of mass destruction? Why can "we" have them, but "they" can't? Some may say because "we" are a civilized country who would use them responsibly. But, I would think other countries look at us and say that "we" are the only country that ever used them. Remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki? I like this analogy ... Say you and your friends are 12 years old. You see a 3-year-old with a knife and you believe he shouldn't have it because he could hurt innocent people with it. You don't go and beat up the 3-year-old to take the knife away. You reason with him. Because he's 3, and 3-year-olds are difficult to reason with, it might take a while. But you're bigger, smarter and stronger, so eventually, you will be able to get the knife without anyone getting hurt. What was the deal with the grammy winners and presenters not be "allowed" to make any anti-war statements? This is still America, isn't it? Freedom of speech, and all that? And why did the vast majority of people at the grammy's go along with it? Surely more people than Sheryl Crow and Fred Durst had something to say. Peace. posted by Anne 2/25/2003 09:12:00 AM
