Why can't these creeps leave girls alone?

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — A former assistant high school football coach was charged with corruption of minors and furnishing liquor to minors after authorities said he bought his 16-year-old girlfriend mixed drinks at a bar last month.

Joseph S. Bergstrom, 33, of State College, was suspended as staff assistant at State College Area High School on Feb. 22, Superintendent Patricia Best said, and his resignation was accepted March 14.

Bergstrom declined to comment Wednesday on the allegations that he took a 16-year-old assistant trainer for the high school’s football team to a bar on Feb. 23 where officers said they saw her consuming alcohol with him.

Bergstrom had worked as a staff assistant for the school district for about a year and was a defensive coach for the football team. Court records indicated that the school district knew about his relationship with the teenager and had counseled him. Best declined to comment on what the district did before he was suspended.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) — A federal judge told a man who pursued potential victims on the Internet and had sex with a 14-year-old Canadian girl and others that he was a ‘‘classic predator,’’ and sentenced him to 24 years in prison for sexual exploitation of children.

‘‘You ought to be glad I don’t have the power to leave you alone with some of these parents,’’ U.S. District Judge John E. Jones III told Steven E. Kline, 46, of Bellefonte. ‘‘You don’t understand how many lives you’ve wrecked by your conduct.’’

Kline is also barred from using a computer without permission of his probation officer and required to register as a sexual offender.
Kline admitted he exchanged sexually explicit photos of himself with a 14-year-old Canadian girl and traveled to Kingston, Ontario, where they had sex.

He was already serving a six- to 18-month sentence from Northumberland County Common Pleas Court for a sexual relationship with another 14-year-old girl, was under investigation in Columbia County for an alleged sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl there, and awaited trial in Centre County on more than 1,000 charges, including 364 counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated assault and statutory assault, and 468 counts of indecent assault.
