I wanted to buy my nephews (ages 20 months & 5 months) some
Winnie the Pooh stuff for Christmas, so I asked her if the boys like Pooh & friends. She said she hasn't "introduced them to Pooh yet" because of the misspellings in the captions under the illustrations in some of the books. I have no clue wtf she's talking about. She's a good one to talk about spelling. This is a woman who has burdened her children with the names Alexandyr and Aaryn. When they're older, I have a feeling any misspellings they found in Pooh books won't be as traumatic as the way their freakin' names are spelled.

Pet Peeve: I like to drive fast; sometimes over the speed limit, but not a lot over. I hate it when I'm driving over the limit and someone is on my ass. I was driving back from the mall today and there's a stretch of road where the speed limit is 35. I always go 45-ish because, well, it feels better. The road was just resurfaced a couple weeks ago, and now it feels good to drive around 50 mph on it. Anyway, I'm going just under 50 and, yep, some guy in a huge SUV is on my tail. Pissed me off. How did he know I wasn't going to slam on my brakes when the speed limit turns to 25, which is a cop trap? Idiot.

Janis Ian wrote an interesting column about the falsehoods surrounding the music industry's attempt to close down sites like Napster. I'm glad she wrote it because her insight is a lot more important than mine. All I was going to say is that downloading music from Kazaa, which is what I use, is no different than when I was a kid and my friends and I would tape record and trade music. Now, it's just on a bigger scale. Janis Ian made some good points. For example, I probably wouldn't have bought Puddle of Mudd's CD if I hadn't downloaded a couple of songs from Kazaa. Fifteen bucks is a lot to spend for one song if you're not sure if you're going to like the rest of the CD. That reminds me. Remember 45s? Remember when all the music artists released singles? I wish they all did now.

Anyway, I was watching Gone With the Wind last night and switched to CNN during a part of the movie I don't really like. I was so confused by the whole Muhammed thing. The news people sounded pretty confused themselves. When I went to bed, they were saying the police said these two guys weren't the snipers, they were just wanted for questioning. I wake up this morning to find out police do think they're the snipers. I think I'll skip watching and reading news for the rest of the day. Maybe tomorrow the story will be complete and I won't be so confused.

In a sniper related note, some
radio listeners were offended
when a syndicated radio show playing "Another One Bites the Dust" right after the news about the last sniper attack. One of the things that disturbs me about this is that the listerners didn't realize the radio station they listen to uses "canned" shows. How can you not know that? Some people are stupid, that's how. I think it's unfortunate that it happened, but c'mon people. Lighten up. It's a song.

As if I need something to add to my anxiety, the DC sniper thing is getting way out of hand. I have relatives and good friends who live in the DC area. I'm scared for them. My two cousins and their families live in Maryland, as does one of my friends. I have a friend and an accquaintance from college who live in Virginia. This really sucks.

I saw on 20/20 that the sniper may have actually started in mid-September. A man was shot outside a wine store in Maryland. Police are reluctant to tie this case to the others because, according to 20/20, they don't want to admit they should have taken the shooting more seriously when it first happened. But the victim and his family are pressing to get the incident tied to the others. His medical bills are about $100,000. There's been a fund set up for the sniper victims to get free medical care. I'd push it, too, if I was that guy.

Yeah. Okay. I was duped into believing this story about O.J. was true. True or not, it's hilarious. If it was true, it would just be pathetic, too. I know it's wrong to joke about murder, but I couldn't help but laugh when I read "... a golf course in Boca Raton, Fla., where he was taking a rare break from searching for the real killers of his wife." I wonder if O.J. even remembers he said he was going to devote every waking moment to finding the "real killer." And to think I actually paid money to see that guy play football. *sigh*

NEWSFLASH: Saddam wins election! Wow. That was a nail-biter.

In other news, a study has shown that duct tape can cure warts. Duh. MacGyver could have told you that years ago. Didn't he teach us that duct tape can do anything?

This is my current favorite site. It brings back a lot of memories and makes me realize I wasn't the only one who was a pretty stupid kid. *w*

As if the threat of terrorism and an impending war with Iraq isn't enough, now we have this idiot. I'll be interested to hear his story when they find him. It'll surely be a doozy, I imagine.

I'm a bit sad today. My eye doctor died in a plane crash. I first went to him in 1980 when my regular eye doctor told me I had to have surgery if I wanted to wear contact lenses. My dad's insurance company wanted a second opinion. Dr. Keverline said I didn't need surgery after all. I was relieved. So were my parents.

But Dr. Keverline was more than an eye doctor/surgeon. He contributed a lot to two communities -- his hometown as well as my hometown, in which he opened an office in the mid-80s. I get confused when good people die. As much as I try to make sense of it, I can't. Maybe I'm not supposed to. Reading
Sylvia Browne helps a little, but I still can't help being confused. Someday I hope I understand.

Apparently, the funniest joke in the world has been revealed. Okay, I'll admit it's pretty darn funny. It had me LOL'ing. (That's el-oh-el, not lawl or however the freaks who say it that way say it. People who don't say el-oh-el bother me.) Anyway, my all-time favorite joke is:

QWhy did the monkey fall out of the tree?
AIt was dead.
Yes folks, that's the joke that made me realize I was in love with Nick. Pathetic, isn't it? *w*
